Amongst other things, of course...
Like enjoying the beautiful day...
I love Dad. And Mom... Or at least climbing on her...
And I really heart re-appropriating the cat toys. I started out with the ping pong ball and moved onto the scratcher. Not to sharpen my nails. Silly. (Though maybe that's not a bad idea. Futile, given Mom's clipping habit, but not a bad idea.)
It's the home climbing gym!

It's been a little while since Mom did a pic-of-the-day. Probably because I keep her pretty busy...
Here I am checking out my cool Proskauer chair and popcorn pusher.
And this thing. I'm not sure what it is, but it seems FANTASTIC. Can I climb it?

She's got me on a strict climbing regimen of the stairs. Three times a day. (ok, it's not strict and I think it's a grand old time! Less it sound as though it is drudgery.) The water bottle is so elusive. Everytime I reach the stair it's on, it moves to a higher one. Rascal-y water bottle!
I'm starting to wonder if she should have let me get introduced to stairs at Gramma and Grampa's. She's created a Mountain Man Monster!

The real question here is: Am I getting in or out of my crib?
Bwah ha ha ha ha ha. I'll never tell!
Unfortunately, getting off the stool is proving to be a little trickier than anything else... I employed the drop and roll method the way James Bond (or Michael Weston) does, but I'm still not sure whether I liked it. It left a little to be desired in the graceful category...

Wuz up, peeps?!?!
August has been a whirlwind of activity. Mom hosted a wonderful crafting playgroup for a bunch of my friends.
I think it might have just been an excuse for all the moms to hang out and eat cookies and yummy dip. But they did make cool ziploc bag books for all of us...
I did have to go take a nap towards the end of the playgroup. Nothing like falling asleep at your own party.
What can I say: entertaining is hard work.
Poor Chris: Mom covered him in stickers.
See what happens when you give your baby to her?
Imagine what I have to put up with!
Then mom and dad had some friends over for brunch.
We little people mostly just hung out and chatted about our escape plans.
Or how to take over the world.
On the plus side, I am getting good at smiling on cue*. Kindergarten "cheese" photos a go-go.
Curse that whole walking thing -- it really would make world domination easier. I am getting much closer, but DRATS I still need Mom or Dad's thumbs to old onto. Or my awesome mail cart.
And we took my first road trip! Mom and Dad drove me to see Gramma and Grampa in NC.
We made a stop along the way in Birmingham because I (or is it Mom?) can't take being in the car that long.
We had a short visit, but it was loaded with fun! We went swimming in the lake.
Took my first boat ride...
...and what adventure would be complete without my requisite sling nap:
I climbed stairs (but then refused to let Mom or Gramma document it). Ate watermelon (Mom and Dad may have gotten the better deal: they had salmon that Grampa caught in Alaska and steak. And gelato.)
Shelby helps with the gelato.
Here's more pictures from NC:
And when it was time to go home, Mom and Dad packed up me and the beautiful stained glass windows Gramma made for our new house. We drove back to Birmingham, where Mom and Dad promptly continued my adventures by taking me swimming (in my first pee pool) and out to dinner for the first time since I was a little baby. It was French. And locally sourced.
C'est Magnifique! Who knew Birmingham was hiding such a great organic and local food scene? Mom can't wait to go back. First evacuation...
